Modern Pumpkins

We took your normal, grocery buy of mini pumpkins and made it modern! We purchased two bags of mini pumpkins (~16 pumpkins) and purchased a monochromatic color palette that reminds us of Fall (beige, creme, brown), and made them extra cute with metallic gold stems. The best part of it all? The whole project costs around $25. What a great way to be creative, stay on budget, and gather beautifully! Here is what you need to create these cute pumpkins:

  1. Pick a color palette. We chose neutral fall colors, but choose whichever colors you’d like! Also pick up some sponge brushes

  2. For extra credit, pick up some Metallic Paint for the stems.

  3. Last but not least, purchase some pumpkins. We used mini pumpkins, but feel free to use pumpkins of all sizes or incorporate gourds, squashes, etc.

To get the color on the pumpkins, we used the sponge brushes to dab the paint onto the pumpkins instead of brushing. It gives a a better coat without leaving it streaky! It will look like there are a lot of air pockets when you dab the paint on, but those disappear as it dries. We did two coats on ours and it worked perfectly well! When the pumpkins were dry, we used a Q-tip to dab the metallic paint on the stems. You can use a brush as well, but for those of us that may not have small brushes laying around for painting, we make do with what we have..aka Q-tips for the win!

When your pumpkins are done, arrange them how and as you please! They are seriously the cutest little decor items for Fall! Enjoy!
